When Kevin VanDam watched a friend work a double-jerkbait rig across the surface of a lake several years ago, the Michigan angler knew the technique would become a regular part of his arsenal. Not only did the double-bait rig perfectly mimic a pair of baitfish swimming side by side, VanDam learned that the rig is the perfect medicine for schooling bass.
At the time, VanDam’s friend tied two leaders to a three-way swivel with a single hook and bait on each leader. The rig worked fine, but VanDam was certain he could make it better.
